Five Foot One Design is a boutique interior design studio in Surry Hills, specialising in hospitality. Our portfolio spans bars, restaurants, and cafés—spaces designed to work as hard as the people running them.
More recently, we've expanded into residential work, bringing the same attention to detail and commercial sensibility to private homes.
We work with hospitality operators looking to boost profitability through smarter design, and with homeowners after something unique and distinctive. Whatever the project, we see ourselves as partners—invested in the outcome, not just the deliverables.

We are a small team of passionate creatives, who encourage and support each other. Energy is everything, being a small team we are looking for an excited and passionate designer to join our creative team.
Key Requirements
Y O U A R E
A passionate and creative designer who enjoys sourcing new and exciting products and suppliers. A minimum 3 years working experience is essential.
You have a passion for good design and are a team player with a positive can-do attitude who is looking to excel their career and grow within our business.
We invest the time to allow our designers to grow their skill set and want to see them excel within their role. Some of the key qualities we are looking for are:
- Friendly and professional attitude
- Creative and passionate about hospitality design
- Creative and passionate about residential design
- Good knowledge of industry suppliers and an excitement for sourcing new products.
- Attention to detail when designing & documenting
- Organisation skills with the ability to work within timeframes to meet project deadlines
- Time management skills
- Positive approach to change – we want people who think outside the box
- Strong communication skills
- Team player and the ability to maintain a positive culture within the team
- Work collaboratively and support all members of the team
S K I L L S T O B E S U C C E S S F U L
- Tertiary qualifications in interior design with a minimum of 3 years working experience
- Knowledge of local codes and building standards
- Knowledge of industry specific suppliers
- Experience working within project teams and liaising and co-ordinating with consultants and contractors
- Good documentation drawing skills including specification and scheduling
- Experience delivering projects within an allocated timeframe
- Can demonstrate an ability and understanding of project budgets and designing within a budget.
- Proficient in Vectorworks, Adobe Suite and Microsoft suite
