What You'll Be Working On
As our Soft Home Designer you will research local and international trends to design and develop your product categories end to end in partnership with our buying team. You will curate beautiful products for the home, at commercial price points for the Freedom customer across our soft home accessory categories and upholstery.
This role will involve:
- Collaborating with the Head of Homewares and Design Lead to shape Freedom's direction and strategic initiatives.
- Liaising with suppliers to curate and create products, considering global movements, industry trends, and manufacturing techniques.
- Co - manage and curate the range architecture across all of your categories with your product team including Buyers and Planners.
- Create fit for purpose products ensuring successful execution of the look, quality and function desired by the customer and trend.
- Build cohesive, highly commercial and impactful ranges that attract and grow the Freedom customer base, evolving gently, season to season.
- Mastering and maintaining our Design systems.
Key Requirements
What Type of Person Will Succeed
We're looking for a talented designer with:
- A degree in a related design field (textiles, graphics)
- At least 3-5 years' experience as a textile designer in the retail or wholesale industry - specifically product development in textile categories
- Deep knowledge of fabrications and textiles with a strong eye for colour.
- Demonstrated superior commercial and business experience within a fast-paced environment
- Understanding and experience in back wall programs and range architecture
- Ability to balance creativity with commercial viability
- Meeting project deadlines to support Freedoms commercial critical path
- Ability to understand brand handwriting to create desirable product for the FREEDOM customer.
- Experience working with local and offshore vendors
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
