Description
The Make Haus is a one-of-a-kind multidisciplinary creative studio. We reimagine objects, spaces and moments. Whatever you can dream, we can build.
About the Role
This role is ideal for a designer with 1–2 years of studio experience, or a talented graduate who is confident with documentation and eager to grow. You’ll be working closely with our design director to bring concepts to life — from the early spark of an idea all the way through to drawings, detailing and real-world execution.
This is a hands-on position where you’ll explore materiality, develop compelling spatial concepts, build detailed documentation, and contribute to the heart of our interiors studio. Expect a balance of creativity, technicality, collaboration and tactile exploration.
Starting Jan 2026
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing conceptual directions, moodboards and material palettes
- Producing precise, beautiful documentation — plans, elevations, joinery details, schedules
- Assisting with spatial planning and design development
- Diving into FF&E sourcing, specifications and supplier coordination
- Preparing refined presentation decks, diagrams and design storytelling
- Working closely with our directors, designers and makers
- Attending site visits, measure-ups and supplier appointments
- Maintaining our material library and supporting project organisation
- Contributing your own ideas, perspectives and obsessions
Key Requirements
What You Bring
- 1–2 years studio experience or graduate level with strong technical confidence
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/sketch up, Adobe Creative Suite, and documentation workflows
- A strong eye for materials, form, texture and atmosphere
- A love for detail — drawing it, refining it, questioning it
- Organised, proactive and comfortable moving between multiple projects
- Clear communication and a collaborative mindset
- A desire to create work that feels original, intentional and emotionally intelligent
Who You Are
You’re someone who is inspired by the small things — an edge radius, a stone texture, a gentle fall of light. You love creating deliberate yet delightful moods. You want to grow inside a studio that values not so typical design, storytelling and design integrity — and you’re ready to contribute with both your imagination and your technical skill.
How to Apply
If this role sounds like you and you'd like to join our creative family, please send your resume, portfolio and a brief cover note to Danielle Dean at dani@themakehaus.com.au
