About Us:
Pony Design Co. is an Interior Design studio based in Sydney’s Inner West.
We specialise in crafting high-performing spaces across the Hospitality, Retail, Wellness and Commercial sectors, with a strong focus on integrating business strategy and branding into interior experiences.
We are a small team of four and are now looking for our next ‘forever person’ to join us as a Junior Interior Designer.

The Role:
This is an opportunity to work closely with studio leadership on distinctive hospitality, retail & commercial projects across Australia. You will be immersed in every phase of the design process, from strategic briefing and concept design to documentation, consultant coordination and delivery.
Your role is to support our design team and directors through a variety of design phases, while assisting with managing the design library and administration duties.
The role requires curiosity, initiative and a growing understanding of how hospitality venues operate.

Key Aspects of the Role
- Taking ownership of defined project stages across multiple hospitality projects, with hands-on design and documentation responsibilities.
- Contributing to and assisting in the preparation and delivery of engaging Design Presentations for clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborating closely with the Principal and Associate Director to ensure design intent is carried through all phases of the project.
- Managing day-to-day coordination of consultants, suppliers and contractors within your allocated projects.
- Assisting in ensuring projects are delivered to scope, programme and budget, in alignment with approved proposals.
- Maintaining clear and professional communication with clients and external stakeholders.
- Contributing positively to our culture of care, growth, dedication and enjoyment.
- Building trust within the team and with our partners as a dependable, proactive and solutions-focused designer.
Who You Are
You have a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience working in a commercial (hospitality, retail, workplace) design practice in Australia.
You are building your knowledge of local supplier networks and developing an understanding of Australian compliance requirements.
You have an outgoing personality and are ready to bring enthusiasm and energy into a team that encourages individuality.
You are self-motivated, organised and proactive. You communicate with clarity and professionalism, and you thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
You are excited by hospitality, retail and commercial design and are ready to take the next step in your career within a values-led studio.
Key aspects of the role
- Supporting design work through defined project stages across multiple projects, with hands-on design and documentation involvement under the guidance of the senior team.
- Assisting in the preparation and delivery of engaging Design Presentations for clients and stakeholders.
- Managing our design library and supporting supplier coordination across allocated projects.
- Assisting with admin duties relevant to the running of a small design studio.
- Maintaining clear and professional communication with clients and external stakeholders.
- Contributing positively to our culture of care, growth, dedication and enjoyment.
- Building trust within the team and with our partners as a dependable, proactive and solutions-focused designer.
Successful Applicants Will Have
- A minimum of 2 years of post-grad industry experience, across Hospitality or commercial interior design within Australia
- Must be proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) – a large part of this role will be developing presentations.
- Developing ArchiCAD skills are highly desirable and will be a skill priority across applications for this role. Applicants with Revit will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- A strong personal portfolio demonstrating design and documentation skills and personal design aesthetic,
- Effective hand sketching and visual communication skills
- PC Based (not MAC)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/ Outlook
- Excellent communication (written, visual and verbal) skills
- Engaging presentation and verbal communication skills
- A passion for design
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude
- Good sense of humour
- Full Australian Drivers’ License
Salary is dependent on experience.
